August 2023 Happenings

Summer finally arrived, and the Bear Valley Adventure Company welcomes one of the finest seasons of the year! It doesn't matter if you choose to venture on the trails, lakes, meadows, roads, courts, or rocks or visit for the live music, enjoy a good book, or stargazing; nothing compares to the warm days and cool nights of Bear Valley in the summer.

During August, BVAC plans to roll bikes out of the store with new owners at great prices. Honestly, we over-purchased new bikes for what turned out to be a short summer and are motivated to clear space before the snow arrives. Plus, our lightly used rental equipment will be available at deep discounts on Labor Day, Monday, September 4th, 2023.

It's never too early to start planning for winter, and BVAC has scheduled two XC Ski & Snowshoe Trail Work Days on September 9th and 30th. Participants often comment on how cool it is to see where the trails go before the snow arrives. You'd be surprised how rugged the terrain is before the snowcats groom and smooth the trails for skiing and snowshoeing. Afterward, enjoy lunch provided by BVAC with fellow trail enthusiasts.

While BVAC always seeks exceptional staff to join our team, two key positions will open this winter. First, we seek a food-loving cook to manage our cafes (winter & summer) and expand our catering opportunities. Many thanks to Amelia for providing tasty food both in the meadow and store; best wishes on your next endeavor. Second, we need ambassadors to meet and greet our guests at the trailhead. Matt Welch held this position for many years and is moving on to greener pastures this winter. Thank you, Matt, for providing our patrons with a professional, positive, and safe welcome to our world-class trail system. We anticipate needing at least four part-time Trail Ambassadors to fill his role. To learn more about these positions, visit www.bvadventures.com/employment.

So between now and when the snow arrives is a great time to visit Bear Valley. Mosquitos have mellowed, tree pollen has washed away, and the crowds lessen once the kids return to school. In addition, lakes will stay fuller than usual as last winter's snow continues to replenish. So what are you waiting for? Visit and enjoy Bear Valley!
