September 2023 Happenings

Fall is in the air, and our fingers are crossed that the recent rain over Labor Day Weekend is enough to keep the forest moist and able to dampen any wildfires. These recent rains have also refreshed the trails for outstanding mountain biking, hiking, and trail running. There are no signs of Fall colors yet, but that will change in the coming weeks and months.

The BVAC Trail Works days are scheduled for September 9th and 30th. While the first date will have passed by the time this article is published, save the date at the end of the month. These days are a unique opportunity to explore and help prepare winter trails for snowcat grooming. Often, attendees are surprised at the rough terrain our smooth trails must transect in the winter landscape.

Reba's Toll House Cafe will close for the summer on Sunday, October 1st. While we'd like to stay open longer, the past two years have been hectic to get the food trailer off the hill as the winter storms approach. Once the trailer is below the snowline, our culinary efforts will focus on reopening Reba's Meadow Cafe with the start of the 2023/2024 cross country ski, snowshoe, sledding, and tubing season. Our projected opening date is Thursday, November 23rd, 2023. Plus, we will hustle for an even earlier opening if the snow arrives early. Stay tuned!
