May 2024 Happenings

The meadow was starting to grumble, and the Bear Valley Adventure Company (BVAC) ceased winter operations on Sunday, April 30th, with great skiing and live music at the Meadow Cafe. Then, by May 1st, the meadow made it loud and clear that winter was over, and it was time to put the trail system to bed. We want to say "thank you" to all our guests and the community's support. This enthusiasm motivates us to get up early and stay late. Our projected opening date for the 2024/2025 winter season is November 28th, 2024 (Thanksgiving Day).

We'd like to share a couple of cool happenings at BVAC. First, our store manager, Quinn Rider, wrote an article for our Adventure Blog titled "The Bears Are Back In Town." Quinn shares her research about the costs and benefits of hibernating black bears. To read more about these omnivores' winter tactics, visit our Adventure Blog at www.bvadventures.com/adventure-blog.

Also recently added to our Adventure Blog is "Project Warming Hut," in which longtime Bear Valley enthusiast Susan Carrol requests short stories based on the history and special memories of the Warming Hut (now Reba's Meadow Cafe). This iconic building served as our village's first real estate office, tennis clubhouse, Nordic warming hut, and now a snowbound cafe. Susan plans to collect stories to publish a book. All proceeds from this book will benefit youth Nordic ski programs in Bear Valley. How cool is that?

Until the next adventure, cheers!
