August 2024 Happenings

The Bear Valley Music Festival has come and gone. While the final week is still ahead at the time of this writing, the cultural and economic injection this event brings to our community is unmistakable. A heartfelt appreciation to the organizers and patrons is well-deserved. Thank you!

Meanwhile, "back at the ranch," the Bear Valley Adventure Company (BVAC) continues to enjoy summer. There have been extended, hot stretches of weather, and watersports are the go-to activity for relief and recreation. Kayak, canoe, and paddleboard rentals are popular, and advanced online reservations ensure the right vessel is available. All boat rentals include paddles and life vests, plus straps and pads for your car. BVAC also offers boat transportation to local lakes for an additional fee. Our traditional Labor Day Sale for rental boats is on Monday, September 2, 2004. Plus, all summer items in the store are discounted for the entire holiday weekend.

Despite the summer heat, winter is fast approaching, and BVAC has scheduled two unique XC Trail Work Days. These adventurous outings help prepare our cross-country ski and snowshoe trails for snow grooming and provide a one-of-a-kind experience. Many participants are surprised at the 'wild' nature of our landscape and gain an appreciation for what the snowcat drivers accomplish with smooth trails over rough terrain. All volunteers receive a complimentary lunch from Reba's Toll House Café. In addition to the café serving delicious food, Chef Jessi is excited to expand her offerings to catered events, both big and small.  Contact BVAC to explore her finely crafted culinary adventures.

But before winter arrives, visiting Bear Valley after a busy summer is often one of the best times. The mosquitos are gone, the lakes are still warm, and the trails are clear of hikers and bikers. But you already knew that. Cheers!
