August 2020 Happenings

Bear Valley summer is marching forward with plenty of sunshine and comfortable temperatures. Refreshing water activities, spectacular hikes, and exhilarating bike rides are the norm, plus wildflowers keep accenting the landscape with vibrant colors. A few thunderstorms have rolled through, but nothing out of the ordinary. These weather events are welcome as they knock down dust and rejuvenate the plants.

In addition to these "normal" Bear Valley happenings, there are many more people living and visiting Bear Valley these days. The Bear Valley Adventure Company (BVAC) is busy serving customers while requiring face masks and healthy spacing in the store.  Guests have been respectful and we appreciate their awareness. While we understand that our small mountain town may seem less vulnerable to the COVID19 virus than more urban areas, it's essential to protect ourselves and others.

One abnormal occurrence this summer is the high numbers of grasshoppers.  At the BVAC store you don’t have to walk far off the asphalt before hundreds of grass hoppers take flight in front of you.  The grasshopper boom is fueling a lot of fish activity on the lakes. We’ve heard from customers that the fish catches have definitely picked up.

Eventually, summer will give way to fall, which means the BVAC Labor Day Parking Lot Sale is coming up on Monday, September 7th.  This annual event is when BVAC sells its rental bike and boat fleets at great prices.  In addition, selected summer items in the store will be discounted over the weekend. More event details posted on our website – www.bvadventures.com.

While many uncertainties are leading up to this winter, BVAC is preparing for a strong cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and sledding season. We are evaluating our rental and retail operations for COVID precautions, and we are optimistic that we can provide safe and fun activities.  BVAC wishes good health to the extended Bear Valley community.
