December 2021 Happenings

While waiting for snow, the Bear Valley Adventure Company has been busy completing a long-standing project (more below), receiving and displaying new ski equipment, and doing extra work on the trails.  The big project mentioned above was installing a new gas pump that accepts credit cards and delivers gas 24/7.  This project was at the top of the list when the Bear Valley Mountain Cooperative purchased the business in 2018, but was riddled with challenges and regulations along the way.  So while we enjoy people visiting the store, it is nice to know that both locals and guests can breathe a little easier when their gas gauge reaches low.

More good news is that our store is well stocked with cross country ski gear and clothing.  While supply chain disruptions hampered a few items, BVAC was bullish when placing orders last Spring, and with a bit of good fortune, received most of what was ordered, with a few items trickling in.

Behind the scenes, our outside operations crew has aggressively cleared and widened many trails.  These efforts enable better grooming as few of our trails follow roads.  Instead, most trails weave and seek natural passages through the landscape.  In addition, these paths need to adjust to snow depths as obstacles are either buried or exposed in the snow. As a result, the trail you skied during your last visit might change when you return.  Each winter is different, and our snowcat groomers are known to be flexible and creative.

Last but not least, the Bear Valley Adventure Company was once again recognized as one of the best cross country ski resorts in North America in the USA Today Readers Choice contest.  Thanks for all your support as we got on the podium with a bronze medal.  Now we look forward to the arrival of winter and seeing many of you out on the trails soon.  Cheers!
