The bountiful snowfall of December set up January to be a spectacular winter sports month, and indeed January delivered! Winter operations are rolling at 100%, then a little extra during peak business periods. As a result, the Bear Valley Adventure Company (BVAC) has been able to open the entire trail system with 60+ kilometers of groomed trails. Along the way, skiers and snowshoes encounter numerous vista points that highlight our winter wonderland. It doesn't matter if you are a novice or expert skier; the Bear Valley trail system is one of the best in the business!
Speaking of the best, BVAC staff deserve many kudos for stepping up and providing quality experiences with a genuine smile. It's no mystery that the service industry is experiencing difficulties; all the while, BVAC has done a great job of greeting guests and helping them succeed in our unique landscape. Nice work team!
Back to snow, our healthy snowpack will carry over into February and keep delivering winter goods for weeks to come. The 49th Annual Bjornloppet Race happens on Sunday, February 13th with 5K, 10K, and 20K courses. It doesn’t matter if you are an experienced cross country ski racer, or a little less serious, the Bjornloppet event is fun and challenging for a wide range of ages and abilities. Plus, the post-race lunch and awards ceremony is practically worth the price of admission ;-)
Looking ahead, additional precipitation, preferably snow, is still needed to boost water reservoirs. And when the storms arrive, BVAC will be ready with shovels, snowcats, and of course, smiles. Cheers!
