The 51st Annual Bjornloppet XC Ski Race Weekend will happen on March 9th and 10th, 2024. This event is one of the longest-running ski races in the West and is open to a range of abilities. The weekend starts with the main event, the freestyle race (skate and stride), beginning at 10:30 am. Participants can enter the 20K, 10K, or 5K race. Afterward, the awards ceremony at the Meadow Cafe is always a hit, with lunch and tons of prizes given to competitors.
The race begins at 10 am on Sunday, March 11th. Participants compete in a 10K or 5K classic ski-only race (no skate skiing). The course ventures to another part of the trail system (Equipe Trail), and racers often comment that they appreciate the variety of terrain in Bear Valley.
Meanwhile, while writing this article, Bear Valley is bracing for a series of winter storms that some forecasters call for 60+ inches of new snow over the next six days. While these predictions are often wrong, even half this amount will be fantastic.
