January 2026 Happenings

While sitting down to write this article for the January edition of the Cub Reporter, a well-advertised “Christmas Miracle” storm is getting underway.  Over the next 48 hours, we are braced to receive an impressive amount of snow, even by Bear Valley standards.  Then, practically scripted by Hollywood, the sun will come out the day after Christmas. This scenario, while almost too good to be true, will pose tough conditions for businesses in Bear Valley. Our village has been practically a ghost town since Thanksgiving, and both employees and employers have struggled to stay busy.  Some staff have even left town to pursue more gainful employment elsewhere. Those remaining will have to go the extra mile, two, or three, and deliver a positive and memorable experience. Best wishes and good luck to all!

Fast forward a few days, and the “Christmas Miracle” storm delivered a hefty dose of weather. In the village, we endured heavy rain during the initial waves of the storm. Fortunately, the second half was all snow, and when it was all said and done, Bear Valley was blanketed with fresh snow right as the holiday crowds arrived. Local businesses hustled big time and received the crowds in exemplary fashion. At the Bear Valley Adventure Co., we literally went from dirt and mud in the meadow to a winter landscape overnight—big kudos to all the Bear Valley businesses for rising to the occasion and delivering a Christmas miracle.

Cheers!
