As we reach the last day of November, we're still waiting for winter to arrive in the meadow. Without snowmaking, Bear Valley Adventure Co. (BVAC) depends on natural snowfall to open for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, and tubing. Although we saw a few promising early snowstorms, a prolonged stretch of dry weather has prevented us from opening in time for Thanksgiving. We’ve faced similar situations before, and this time is being used for training, trail work, and tackling projects that had been set aside.
The past summer and fall were bustling at BVAC, with significant investments made to enhance both our operations and guest experiences. Highlights include installing new carpet in the store, reinforcing and leveling the deck at the Meadow Café, and adding two new snowblowers and a snowmobile to our fleet. We also acquired robust radios to ensure clear communication between the store, trailhead, café, and snowcat drivers. A larger sledding and tubing shack has been built, while the old building has been refurbished into a trailhead snack shack, now featuring a New York-style hot dog cart. When the snow finally arrives, we eagerly anticipate improving your experience and serving you a delicious hot dog.
Cheers!
While new store carpet was being installed, the old car mechanic lifts were exposed.
While waiting for the snow to accumulate is never to early to make a snow angel.
