October proved to be another stellar month in Bear Valley. The fall colors were exceptionally brilliant this year, and we hope many of you could get out and enjoy this seasonal display. The Bear Valley Adventure Co. hosted two XC Trail Work Days in October, bringing the total to three days with 53 people helping to clear small trees and shrubs off the cross country and snowshoe trails. These efforts enable us to groom and open more paths earlier in the season. Trails that received a little TLC include Hidden Meadow, Aspen Forest, Lodgepole Loop, Headwaters Bridge, the Runway, Jacks Trails, and Sunshine Bowl. Many thanks to all the folks that came out and worked, socialized with healthy spacing, and enjoyed a tasty meal afterward.
The Bear Valley trail system is truly one of the best in the world. Not only for the natural and creative trails, but also for the people that recreate, enjoy, and invest themselves in Bear Valley. Thank you!
As this article is being drafted, the weather forecast is hinting at precipitation and winter weather headed our way. There is never a guarantee regarding the weather, but it is refreshing to see changes. Hopefully, by the time you receive this Cub Reporter, there will be snow starting to accumulate on the ground. Finger crossed!
The projected opening day for groomed cross country skiing and snowshoeing is Friday, November 27th, 2020. While many folks look forward to Black Friday after Thanksgiving, we prefer a White Friday out on the snow. BVAC is modifying winter operations, especially in the store, to help keep staff and guests safe from COVID exposure. Please visit our website (www.bvadventures.com) for details and learn how to prepare for an excellent day of cross country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, and tubing. Cheers to winter, and be well.
