January 2023 Happenings

Winter arrived early, and the Bear Valley Adventure Company (BVAC) seized the opportunity and opened with groomed cross country ski and snowshoe trails on November 12th.

Tubing hills were added on November 19th, almost a week before the projected opening date of November 24th. This scenario is rare, and it is exciting to start skiing early and see so many people enjoying the trails and hills. Fingers crossed that winter storms keep rolling in!

One thing missing from the Thanksgiving holiday was our traditional Wine Tasting in the Meadow. We decided to move the event to the Spring when the days are longer and typically warmer. We'll let you know when the date is confirmed. Speaking of dates, the 50th Annual Bjornloppet Ski Race Weekend is happening on March 11th & 12th, and Tom's Classic Race is on April 8th.

This winter, a noticeable change at BVAC is lowering costs for young cross country skiers and snowshoers. While adult and senior trail passes increased slightly, youth trail passes for 17 years old & younger were reduced significantly, including rentals and lessons. The future of snowsports is getting kids active and outdoors, and we think Bear Valley is the right place.

We've noticed another change this year; schools have started booking cross country and snowshoe trips. Unfortunately, the pandemic put the brakes on these outings, and we look forward to hosting school groups again this winter. If you know of a teacher or parent interested in bringing a youth group to Bear Valley, please look at this webpage (bvadventures.com/groups).

During this holiday season, we wish all Bear Valley patrons a safe and memorable experience while visiting our winter wonderland. Plus bountiful amounts of fresh snow ;-) Cheers!
