2019/2020 Winter Slideshow

Dear Patrons,

We have delayed sending this season-end message, as we maintained hope we would be able to resume winter operations. We now recognize that this is not realistic due to COVID-19. Closing the season early was very disappointing, but the health and safety of our staff, guests, and community is always our top priority.

As we draw closure on this winter season, we want to say thank you for supporting the Bear Valley Adventure Company (BVAC). Without you, it would be awfully quiet in our little alpine village. Plus, we enjoying seeing regular faces throughout the year.

Looking back, winter started with a bang and a last-minute storm that enabled opening for Thanksgiving. It was cold and stormy for much of December, and the holiday season offered great snow for skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, and tubing. It was heartwarming to see so many people enjoying Bear Valley.

As the new year got underway, incoming storms slowed and eventually stopped for most of January, February, and the first half of March. Despite dry conditions, BVAC kept most of the trails open due to diligent efforts by the outside operations staff. Cold temperatures, coupled with a resilient snowpack, enabled quality grooming throughout the winter season. It was unfortunate when the storms did return in mid-March, that COVID-19 was taking grip, and forced us to close.

In the end, BVAC opened groomed trails for 112 days or roughly 80% of the planned winter season. During this time, we hope you were able to enjoy the extraordinary beauty and serenity of the Bear Valley trail system. For your enjoyment, we have created the slideshow above with some of this winter’s photos.

We are now setting our sights on summer and look forward to tuning bikes, loading kayaks, serving tacos, and welcoming people to plan and prepare for their next adventure.

Best wishes,
BVAC Staff
