If you haven't noticed, winter returned with gusto towards the end of January, and now the snowpack is looking great for the second half of the ski season. Although the storms' rate and intensity were not easy, not to mention a 5-day power outage, eventually the sun came out, we found and dug out our belongings, and now our winter wonderland is looking fresh and vital.
The pandemic forced us to limit store capacity to 6 customers. Now we joke that we may continue this mandate well after COVID subsides. Reducing the number of people in the store has created a relaxing atmosphere where staff can better assist customers and guests can shop at ease. Other store additions are "grab and go" sandwiches from the Meadow Café and broadening the wine selection. If you haven't been in the store for a while, swing by and check it out. But you might have to wait outside before entering on weekends and holidays ;-)
Another noticeable difference this winter is the number of people visiting Bear Valley for "snow play." This phenomenon is happening on all the Sierra Nevada highway corridors. While this influx causes parking, trash, and bathroom issues, we wanted to share another side of the story. At the Bear Valley Adventure Company, staff witness daily the thrills of excitement, laughter, and awestruck expressions of people unfamiliar with a snowy environment. During these hectic times, helping and seeing people enjoy the outdoors is rewarding. The stoke level is high at BVAC! Be well.
