Fall is in the air, and thankfully very little wildfire smoke too. But, can you hear the proverbial knocking on wood? In addition, a significant rain event in the second half of September deposited 4+ inches of water and revitalized the trails for prime hiking and mountain biking. And if that wasn't enough good news, the Quaking Aspens are starting to turn and display their fall colors in early October, so mid-October looks like the best time to witness the fall colors. Taking a day or two to visit Ebbetts, Monitor, and Sonora Pass is something every Bear Valley enthusiast should do at least once.
Closer to home, the Bear Valley Adventure Company is aggressively selling summer items to make room for incoming winter inventory. Through strategic ordering, good manufacturer relations, and a little good fortune, BVAC will be well-stocked with cross country ski equipment, snowshoes, and winter apparel. Did you hear that knocking on wood again?
In the meantime, a new metal roof has been installed at the Meadow Cafe, and a refreshing of the interior is planned before reopening indoor seating at the cafe this winter, pandemic permitting. Whoops, there's that knocking on wood again.
All this knocking on wood is a little superstitious and indicative of all the tree removal in the village and on our groomed trails. The BVAC outside operations team is busy removing hazard trees and widening trails in preparation for winter. It takes tremendous work to maintain and preserve one of the best-groomed trail networks in the West, and we are honored to do so. Cheers!
